Getting started

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Call (574) 350-4142 or send the form and we'll set up a time to look at the job, take measurements and give you a written estimate at no cost.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Elkhart and work across Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan: west to Michigan City and La Porte, east to Angola and Kendallville, south to Rochester and North Manchester, and north to Kalamazoo and St. Joseph. Our service areas page lists all 90 towns.

Do you do residential and commercial work?

Both. We pave and maintain home driveways, rural lanes and private roads as well as parking lots for businesses, churches, apartments and industrial sites.

How soon can you look at my project?

In season we can usually get out to see a project quickly. Call and we'll find a time that works for you.

Paving

How long does an asphalt driveway last?

A well-built asphalt driveway commonly lasts 15 to 20 years, and often longer with regular crack sealing and sealcoating. Drainage and base quality make the biggest difference, which is why we put so much effort into both.

Asphalt or concrete for my driveway?

Asphalt usually costs less to install, handles freeze-thaw cycles and road salt well, and is easy to repair and resurface. Concrete costs more up front and needs less frequent maintenance. For most driveways in our climate, asphalt is the practical choice.

When is the best time of year to pave?

Late spring through fall. Asphalt plants in our area typically shut down for the winter, and hot mix needs warm ground and air temperatures to compact well.

Why does my new driveway have scuff marks?

Fresh asphalt is still soft while it cures, especially in summer heat. Scuffs from tires turning in place are normal at first and fade as the surface hardens over the following months.

Maintenance & repair

How often should I sealcoat?

Every two to three years for most driveways and parking lots. Wait six months to a year before sealing brand-new asphalt so it can cure.

Should I fix cracks before winter?

Yes. Water that gets into open cracks freezes and expands, widening them and weakening the base. Sealing cracks in the fall is one of the best things you can do for your pavement.

How should I care for asphalt in winter?

Plow or shovel regularly so ice doesn't build up, keep plow blades from scraping the surface, and use de-icing salt in moderation. Seal open cracks before the cold sets in so water can't get in and freeze.

Can you repair just part of my driveway or lot?

Absolutely. Crack sealing, pothole patching and replacing failed sections are often the smartest way to stretch the life of pavement that's mostly still in good shape.
