Replace the old, pave the new
Overview
A driveway built from the ground up
A new driveway is mostly invisible work. Before any blacktop goes down we lay out the route, strip topsoil and sod, dig out anything soft, set the grade so water runs away from your garage and foundation, and build up a compacted stone base thick enough for the trucks, trailers and campers it will actually carry. That foundation is what keeps a driveway flat and crack-free through decades of Indiana and Michigan winters.
We install driveways of every shape: short in-town drives, long rural lanes through the trees, wide aprons for RVs and boats, and turnarounds at the top of a hill. Converting a gravel driveway is one of the most common jobs we see. In many cases the existing stone can be regraded, topped up and compacted to serve as part of the new base, which helps keep the cost down.

We lay out the driveway with you, mark grades and decide where water should go.
Excavate and grade
Topsoil and soft material come out, and the subgrade is shaped and compacted.
Build the base
Stone goes down in layers and is compacted into a solid, well-drained foundation.

FAQ
Asphalt Driveway Installation questions
More answers on our FAQ page, or call (574) 350-4142.
Can you pave over my gravel driveway?
Often, yes. If the existing gravel is well compacted and drains well, we can regrade it, add stone where it's thin and use it as part of the base. If it's mixed with clay or has soft spots, those areas are dug out first. We'll tell you which situation you're in at the estimate.
How long does a new driveway take to install?
Most residential driveways take one to three days on site, depending on size and how much excavation is needed. Weather can shift the schedule, and we'll keep you updated if it does.
Will a new driveway handle my RV or work truck?
It can if it's built for it. Tell us what you plan to park and drive on it, and we'll increase the base and asphalt thickness in those areas so they don't rut or crack.
